New Arizona State Law Lets Arizonans Make And Sell Guns And Ammo

A House panel voted Thursday to let Arizonans make their own guns and bullets - and offer them for sale - without having to comply with federal regulations. Arizona law already allows anyone except convicted felons to carry a gun that is visible. While McLain's measure is new, several other perennial bills designed to expand gun rights are set for consideration later this session. The most sweeping of these would allow any adult to carry a concealed weapon without the requirement that now exists to obtain a permit.

For years more people have fled the Golden State than have arrived. In the year ended July 1, California was the country's biggest loser, with nearly 100,000 more residents leaving than moving in.

Still, that was an improvement over earlier losses: In 2006 the net decline was 313,081.

Much of that improvement came from the housing bubble bursting. Homes became harder to sell as thousands of foreclosures sat on the market. As a result, many Californians stayed on rather than sell their homes at a loss.
